Leon was born October 19, 1929 in Stratford, the son of Leo and Marian (Bever) Fochs. After graduating from Pittsville High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Leon was married to Ruth Wirtz in 1954 at Altdorf.

Survivors are his four children, sixteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, six brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in 1992, one daughter, Nancy Lou; one grandson, Jonathan Petersen; one great-grandson; and one brother, Leonard.

Funeral services were held December 23 at St. Joachim's Catholic Church, Pittsville, with burial in the parish cemetery. Buchanan Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
